The sector of Obstetrics, undeniably our stronger sector, is in function since 1980. We are proud of several innovations (e.g. the 1st ultrasonography in northern Aegean region/ the first Cryopreservation of Cord Stem Cells in Greece etc).
We emphasize the importance of natural delivery and we follow the recommendations of W.H.O about the ideal C-section percentages. Due to the persistence and perseverance of our founder and Head of the Department, Dr Ioannis Argyroudis M.D. – PhD, we can present total c-section rate below 15% for the 35 years in practice. This is mainly due to the very low c-section rate during the 80ies and 90ies, reaching up to 5%!!!
We are in position to present series of natural deliveries of breech presentations and natural deliveries of twin pregnancies. The department is fully equipped with all the means of instrumentation (e.g. Forceps and Vacuum extractors). The personnel is highly educated, comfortable and confident and we can present big series of instrumental extractions.
Most of our deliveries are done under epidural anesthesia (80%) and are almost painless. Our colleagues are very focused on the best anatomic and functional reconstruction of the perineum. Our Midwives organize childbirth classes and they activelly advice mothers to breastfeed naturally, when there is no contraindication.
The C-Sections are mostly done under spinal anesthesia. In this manner, mothers are consious and can hear the first cry of their baby. The installed Audits and internal control mechanisms aim to keep on ameliorating our services.
The whole of the personnel (midwifes and nurses) is on your side constantly! Even after the discharge from the clinic. They are gentle and always willing to help. All of our doctors, through their healthy competition, good education and prooven collaboration raise the standards of quality in health services.
Our activity takes place in 3 fully equiped and independent delivery theaters, and we offer a great variety or ward rooms.
