Dr Ioannis STAVRAKIS MD.
Was born in Chios in 1966. He did his basic education in the 1st primary school of Chios and then the 1st highschool and lyceum of Chios from where he graduated in 1984. He was accepted in the Medical Faculty of the University of Ioannina the same year.
During his university education he was actively applicated in voluntary blood donation and he participated in the Association of Student blood Donors. He graduated from the Medical Faculty of Ioannina University in 1990, graded “Very Good”.
He effectuated his rural Medical Service in “Kalimmasia” village in chios and in the same time he worked as an assistant in the Department of Surgery of the “Skylitseion” General Hospital of Chios.
He served as a Reserve Officer M.D. (Medical Division) of the Hellenic Army forces, in the Military Headquarters of the Isle of Chios.
In April 1994 he started his training in Paediatrics in the General Hospital of Chania – Crete. He completed his training in “Agia Sofia” University Pediatric Hospital. He gained the title of Specialist in Paediatrcs in 1998 after successfully passing his exams in the University of Athens.
During his training he was transferred to the department of Paediatrics and Neonatology of a Hospital in London, U.K. where he stayed and worked for 2 years.
Since 1998, he maintains a Private Practice Paediatric Cabinet in Chios.
He is Member of the Chios Medical Council and the Chios Medical Society. He has been elected in the Board of Directors of the Chios Medical Council 3 consecutive times, since 2001. He has served as a President of the Medical Council from 2008 until 2010 and as a Treasurer since then. He participated in the editing committee of “Medicus Hippocraticus” Medical Journal.
He participates in several talks for the information of the general public over paediatric issues and he has done a lot of philanthropist actions. He has organized through the Medical Council several acts concerning the education of Students in schools of Chios, over medical issues.
He has participated in numerous Greek and international Congresses of Peadiatrics and its Paediatric Subspecialties. He has published articles in Greek Journals. He is member of Hellenic Paediatrics Association, The Hellenic College of Paediatrics, Geneneral Medical Council of the U.K. and the American Academy of Paediatrics.
He is Married to Anthi VOURNOUS, since 1993 and they have together four kids.
